“In the Mood for Love” is a romantic film set in 1960s Hong Kong. Feted as a cornerstone film of Asian cinema, it quietly explores the beauty of love and pain amidst sensual cinematography. The film’s otherworldly and dream-like atmosphere forms the inspiration for the artwork.

Classic Chinese motifs and elements are used – a Chinese lantern, bamboo, phoenixes, pagoda and Chinese paper cut-outs of swallows, dragon and phoenix.
