Named after Princess Alexandra, wife of Edward VII, the villas at Alexandra Park were built to accommodate the British officers based at the Alexandra Barracks. Built in the late 1930s to early 1940s, the charming “Black-and-Whites” are now protected under the Urban Redevelopment Authority’s (URA)  Conservation Programme.

This artwork contains hand-cut traditional batik fabric appliquéd onto the canvas; both real hand-drawn and digitally printed batik.
