5 Emerald was commissioned by a lovely couple who met at the No.5 Emerald Hill Cocktail Bar many years ago.

Housed in a two-storey 1910 Peranakan Shophouse along Emerald Hill Road, No.5 bar is well-known for serving exotic liquor (a martini menu is seen as a watermark in the artwork’s background).

The other roadsigns in the artwork are places of significance to the couple- places that they have lived in Singapore.
